Job summary

Lumbermens Merchandising Corporation seeks a Futures Coordinator to develop and deliver comprehensive forest product hedging strategies, coordinating with purchasing and finance staff to execute trades.

You will interact with brokers, provide market updates, prepare reports, and train employees and stockholders on lumber futures and hedging tools. Strong analytical, negotiating, and leadership skills are essential.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or related field or equivalent work experience.
  • Series 30 brokerage license or equivalent certification is preferred.
  • 5+ years related experience, preferably in the lumber industry.
  • 2+ years of purchasing or sales experience, preferably in the LBM industry.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of lumber markets; lumber futures and other related futures/derivatives markets.
  • Excellent analytical and problem solving skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to communicate with internal and external contacts, both in writing and verbally.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute lumber futures hedging strategies.
  • Interact with brokers and coordinate with purchasing and finance staff.
  • Provide market information to staff and stockholders on a regular basis.
  • Plan and deliver seminars and webinars to educate employees and stockholders on futures markets.
  • Maintain records of inquiries, orders, brokerage reports and related information.
  • Identify new vendor sources and improve relationships with vendors.
