Land one of the best smelling jobs around! Since 2007, Luella's Bar-B-Que has been committed to providing genuine hospitality and great food in an energetic, casual and friendly environment. We strive to build a crew of caring people who possess self-discipline and enjoy working in the restaurant profession. We operate North Asheville and South Asheville locations and a large catering department. We are locally and independently owned, food quality driven, and well known for our fun and eclectic work environments and memorable guest experiences. We are looking for qualified hospitality professionals like yourself to help us continue to grow and add new stores in the Asheville area!

SUMMARY

The line/prep cook is responsible for maintaining our excellent standards in food safety, cleanliness and sanitation. A strong focus is placed on food quality and consistency. The line cook/dishwasher must also care for and continually strive for professional development and training.

  1. Maintains cleanliness and sanitation in an exemplary fashion
  2. Focus on clean dishes and dish room
  3. Focus on preparation and assembly of menu item plating and presentation
  4. Adherence to our BOH systems and procedures
  5. Exceptionally fresh and craveable food served daily
  6. Ensuring that everyone who comes through our doors gets to Taste the Love!
  7. Passionate about great food, whether eating, preparing, or sharing
  8. Holds self accountable to our standards of excellence
  9. Communicates and works well with others - good team orientation
  10. Works with sense of urgency
  11. Adopts and advocates our continuous improvement philosophy.
  12. Focuses on food safety, excellent service and guest orientation
  13. Other duties as assigned

REQUIREMENTS

The ideal candidate will possess at least 90% of the following:

  1. Integrity, honesty, accountability, a passion for excellence and an incapability of making excuses for anything less than excellence
  2. A natural surplus of hospitality extended to guests, employees and vendors no matter the circumstances
  3. An unusually attentive focus on details and a compulsive desire to make even the smallest details perfect
  4. Above all, a desire to be the best
  5. Excellent communication skills required
  6. Kitchen experience is preferred, but not required

PHYSICAL/MENTAL DEMANDS

  1. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to stand, walk, talk, and hear. The employee is required to be on feet for a large portion of the day/shift. The employee is required to stoop, kneel, or crouch; reach with hands and arms; use hands to finger, handle or feel tools or controls; must be able to lift and /or move heavy objects including tables and cases of food and beverage; must be able to lift approximately 20 pounds overhead
  2. Must be able to sustain constant mental and visual attention

WORKING CONDITIONS

  1. Kitchen environment, including hot areas, hot tools, hot plates, sharp knives and tools
  2. Flexible schedule can vary from week to week; work required on weekends and holidays
