Job summary

Staker Parson Companies is seeking a Lube Technician for night shift in Utah to perform preventive maintenance and lubrication on diesel-powered vehicles and equipment. You will inspect fluid levels, change oil and filters, lubricate moving parts, and document findings to prevent downtime.

The role requires basic reading of manuals, the ability to use maintenance software, and teamwork. Training on day shift will precede the night schedule.

Qualifications

  • MSHA and OSHA training is a plus.
  • Basic Windows computer skills for maintenance software.
  • Ability to read and interpret safety rules and manuals.
  • Two years of field servicing heavy equipment is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Perform routine vehicle maintenance (oil/filter changes, lubrication, coolant, fuel).
  • Analyze malfunctions and report to shift lead or foreman.
  • Inspect vehicle equipment to diagnose defects.
  • Dismantle and reassemble equipment using hand tools.
  • Inspect parts for damage or wear.
  • Use computer-based maintenance software to create work orders, schedule PMs, and document repairs.
  • Maintain clean work areas and assist other staff for efficient vehicle operations.
  • May work in shop, yard, or on job sites.
  • Ability to perform DOT inspections and brake adjustments.
  • Conduct fluid analysis program.

Job description

The Lube Technician is responsible for performing preventive maintenance and lubrication services on diesel-powered vehicles and equipment to ensure safe and efficient operation. Key duties include checking and maintaining fluid levels, changing oil, replacing oil and air filters, lubricating moving engine and vehicle components, and conducting visual inspections of belts, hoses, and other critical systems. The Lube Technician will also identify signs of wear, damage, or potential mechanical issues and report recommended repairs to help maintain equipment reliability and minimize downtime.

This is a night shift position with approximate shift hours of 4:00pm to 2:00am. Candidates should be available to complete a two- to three-week training period on the day shift prior to transitioning to the night schedule.

  • Perform routine vehicle maintenance (change oil and filter, lubrication, coolant, and fuel).

  • Perform general cleaning of work areas and maintenance areas.
  • Assist other department staff in performing the duties necessary to assure the efficiency of vehicle operations.
  • May work in the shop, yard, or on job sites.
  • Ability to perform DOT inspections and brake adjustments.
  • Perform and maintain fluid analysis program.
Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. His/her own tools may be required.

Education/Experience
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred
  • Two years of technical field experience servicing heavy equipment and trucks
Work Requirements
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to work well with others in a group or one on one setting.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed, but uninvolved written or oral instructions
  • To perform this job successfully, an individual should be able to type and use keyboards accurately and have knowledge of Database software.
Knowledge/Skill Requirements
  • MSHA and OSHA training a positive.
  • Working knowledge in the operations of Windows based computers.
