Job summary

Ohio Transmission Corporation seeks an industrial lubrication technician to apply oils, greases, and fluids, monitor systems, and prevent contamination in a heavy industrial setting. This onsite role is based in Metropolis, IL with real-world responsibilities to keep equipment well-lubricated and running.

You will perform lubrication application, inspections, sampling, CMMS data entry, and support preventive maintenance efforts, while adhering to safety standards and productivity goals.

Qualifications

• Education: High school diploma or GED; technical diploma preferred.
• Experience: 2+ years hands-on mechanical or industrial maintenance.
• Technical: Read equipment manuals and understand fluid properties.
• Physical: Lift heavy objects and stand for long shifts.

Responsibilities

• Lubrication Application: Apply oils, greases or solids to equipment per schedule.
• System Inspections: Check machinery for leaks, wear and contamination.
• Oil and Grease Sampling: Collect samples for analysis and monitoring.
• Contamination Control: Maintain clean storage and proper handling.
• Documentation & CMMS: Log routes and update maintenance records.
• Reliability Support: Assist maintenance techs with preventive tasks.

About this role

As an industrial lubrication technician you will responsible for applying oils, greases, and fluids, monitoring mechanical systems, and preventing contamination in manufacturing or heavy industrial plants.

Physical Job Location: Onsite in Metropolis, IL. A REAL ID is required for this position.

Competitive Pay: This position offers an hourly wage starting at $36+/hr. depending on experience and qualifications.

Key Responsibilities

• Lubrication Application: Apply exact oils, greases, or solid lubricants to production equipment, motors, gearboxes, bearings, pumps, and compressors according to strict schedules.
• System Inspections: Check machinery for leaks, contamination, wear, and improper fluid levels.
• Oil and Grease Sampling: Collect fluid samples for condition monitoring, oil analysis, and early failure detection.
• Contamination Control: Maintain clean lubricant storage, proper handling, and dedicated dispensing tools to prevent dirt or cross-contamination.
• Documentation & CMMS: Log completed routes, update maintenance records, and track equipment status using a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) or route-based software.
• Reliability Support: Assist maintenance technicians with preventive and predictive maintenance tasks.

Required Qualifications

• Education: High school diploma or GED required; technical diploma in industrial maintenance or a related field preferred.
• Experience: Minimum of 2 years of hands-on mechanical or industrial maintenance experience.
• Technical Skills: Mechanical aptitude, understanding of fluid properties, and ability to read equipment manuals.
• Physical Demands: Ability to lift heavy objects, work around large or running machinery, and stand or move for long shifts.
