Job summary

Georgia-Pacific's OSB plant in Gladys, VA has an opening for a Lube Technician. The role involves lubrication of equipment assets, maintaining the lube room, and coordinating with reliability and planning teams to ensure PM systems are effective in a demanding industrial setting.

Qualifications

  • 1+ year of industrial maintenance experience or relevant training
  • Proficient with computer-based record-keeping and documentation
  • Experience with lubrication systems and preventive maintenance would be advantageous

Responsibilities

  • Lubricate equipment assets and maintain lube room, equipment, and storage
  • Ensure lubrication services use correct lubricant types and intervals
  • Collaborate with reliability and planning groups to set up PM systems
  • Assist with lubrication audits and action plans
  • Train site personnel in lubrication practices
  • Maintain and optimize lubrication procedures and SMPs
  • Contribute to oil sampling and lubrication analysis programs
  • Maintain safe, clean, and environmentally sound work environment

What You Will Do
  • Responsible for lubrication of equipment assets, and for maintaining lube room, equipment, and storage
  • Work with site personnel to ensure all equipment assets are lubricated with correct lubricant types and quantities, and in the correct intervals
  • Collaborate with reliability and planning groups to ensure a preventive maintenance (PM) system is set up to adequately lubricate equipment
  • Facilitate knowledge sharing relative to lubrication program
  • Responsible for annual lubrication audit results and action plan
  • Ensure adequate training of site personnel who may also perform lubrication tasks
  • Work with reliability team to continuously optimize standard maintenance procedures (SMPs) and PM procedures
  • Utilize MOE and MP2 to create value-added work requests and prioritize upcoming work assignments
  • Participate in RCA (root cause analysis) process
  • Maintain auto lube systems
  • Conduct weekly lube inventory and work with relevant personnel to order needed components
  • Work with other Reliability personnel to set up lubrication analysis program, conduct oil sampling, and documentation of results
  • Collaborate with others in maintenance department as needed to ensure quality equipment repairs and maintenance
  • Demonstrates initiative to complete scheduled jobs
  • Obtain Machinery Lubrication Technician 1 (MLT-1) certification within one year of taking the position
  • Adhere to and promote all safety policies and procedures
  • Willing and able to work any shift, including holiday, weekends, and overtime if needed
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and environmentally sound work environment, including housekeeping
  • Perform other related duties and projects as assigned
Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)
  • One (1) year or more of industrial maintenance experience OR training in the maintenance field
  • Experience using a computer for record-keeping and documentation functions
What Will Put You Ahead
  • Associate's Degree or certificate in maintenance-related field
  • Experience in maintenance or lubrication technician role
  • Experience analyzing equipment component failures, troubleshooting, and recommending preventive maintenance improvements
  • MLT-1 certification
