Job summary

Sundt Inc. is seeking a Heavy Equipment Maintenance Technician in Abilene, TX to perform lubrication and preventative maintenance on a range of heavy machinery, ensuring safe operation. A valid CDL with Hazmat Endorsement and medical card is required.

You will maintain records, inspect equipment, and support crew with safe, high-quality work while traveling as needed to project sites across the region. The role emphasizes waste elimination and continuous improvement, with a focus on reliability

Qualifications

  • Must have minimum of three years’ experience in the industrial/commercial construction industry and have an in-depth understanding of the operation of various types of heavy construction equipment.
  • Knowledge of oils and lubricants with the ability to make mechanical repairs as necessary.
  • Ability to operate equipment to check for proper operation after service has been made.
  • Maintain lubrication and oil sample records.
  • Must be able to read and understand safety and quality standards and effectively utilize all trade tools and equipment relevant to the work.
  • Possess effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Must be willing to travel.

Job description

Basic Job Functions

Lubrication and preventative maintenance on a variety of heavy equipment, not limited to; backhoes, excavators, backhoes, dozers, loaders, graders, and trenchers, rollers, scrapers, forklifts, haul trucks, water trucks and dump trucks to assure safe operation. Must have Commercial Driver's License with Hazmat Endorsement and medical card.

Minimum Job Requirements

Physical Requirements
  1. Work up to a 12 hour shift doing hard physical work in varying temperatures and outside conditions.
  2. Will climb and maintain balance on stairs and ladders.
  3. Will lift, push or pull objects up to 50lbs. on an occasional basis
  4. Required to use hands to grasp, lift, handle, carry or feel objects on a frequent basis
  5. Must be able to comply with all safety standards and procedures
  6. May reach above shoulder heights and below the waist on a frequent basis
  7. May stoop, kneel, or bend, on an occasional basis
  8. Ability to wear personal protective equipment is required (including but not limited to; steel toed shoes, gloves, safety glasses, hearing protection, hardhat, vest, etc.)
  9. Move in and around confined, cluttered and uneven areas.
  10. May use telephone, computer system, email, or other electronic devices on a limited basis to communicate with internal and external customers or vendors
