We are looking to fill the role of
Assistant Water Plant Operator in our Ashland Water Plant. This position involves skilled technical work in supporting Water Plant Operators by utilizing computers equipped with SCADA systems to operate and monitor a variety of water infrastructure, including wells, advanced treatment plants with disinfection, filtration, chemical feed systems, and transmission main pumping. The role also encompasses SCADA control of reservoirs, pumping stations, and valves. Additional responsibilities include collecting water samples, conducting laboratory analyses, performing facility inspections, and reporting any suspected equipment malfunctions to the designated maintenance personnel for inspection and repair. The position requires in-depth discussions and coordination with the on-duty Water Plant Operator regarding lab results, chemical feed equipment, and the status of other process control analyzers.
Work Hours: Shift based on seniority and includes rotating days off, weekends, and holidays.
Shift Hours:
1st - 7 a.m. to 3 p.m.
2nd - 3 p.m. to 11 p.m.
3rd - 11 p.m. - 7 a.m.
Position is physically located in Ashland, NE.Desirable Knowledge, Abilities & Skills/Desirable Training & Experience- College level coursework in Chemistry, Biology, Engineering or related field
- Possession of a valid State of Nebraska Grade IV Water Operators License
- Process control experience with equipment, chemicals, instrumentation in Water Treatment Plants or other related areas of food, manufacturing, pharmaceutical, plating industries.
Minimum Qualifications- High school graduate or equivalent
- At least 6 months experience or training in mechanical maintenance or operating pumps and valves; or equivalent.
Necessary Special RequirementMust be able to obtain a Nebraska Grade IV Water Operators License from the Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services Division of Public Health within 12 months of hire.
