Description:LTS-ParaeducatorSPED - Independence Elementary STEM
Job Summary: Provides instructional and behavioral support to special education staff and students across a variety of subject areas and school settings. Working under the direct supervision of licensed instructional personnel, positions in this classification provide reinforcement to students individually or in small groups to support their learning goals and Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).
Staff in this role utilize basic knowledge of child development, learning theory, and positive behavior supports to assist students in the classroom. Key responsibilities include implementing behavioral plans, assisting with general subject reinforcement (such as reading, math, and science), and performing essential classroom support tasks, including preparing modified learning materials, maintaining records, and managing classroom
supplies.
Qualifications: Requires a minimum of an AA Degree; or 90 quarter college credits (60 semester credits); or a score of 460 on the ParaPro Assessment exam; or a score of at least 65% accuracy on Assessment 1 and a 70% accuracy on Assessment 2 of the ParaEducator exam. Previous experience working with children or in a school setting, and/or coursework in child development, human development, learning, behavior management or related coursework
is preferred.
License Requirements: No specific licenses or certification required to gain entry into the classification. District may require specific certifications, courses and/or licenses after hiring depending upon the specific job assignment, or needs of the district.
Assignment: 6.50 hrs/day
Starting Date: approximately December 1, 2026 ; end date (anticipated 6-8 weeks)
