Job summary

Maersk Warehousing and Distribution USA LLC is seeking a landside operations leader to supervise daily terminal activities, including freight handling, loading, unloading, dispatch and dock operations. You will coordinate inbound and outbound freight and drive on-time service.

The role emphasizes safety and compliance with DOT, FMCSA, OSHA standards, developing drivers and dispatch staff, and continuously improving productivity and customer satisfaction across the supply chain.

Responsibilities

• Supervise daily landside terminal operations, including freight handling, loading, unloading, dispatch, and dock activities.
• Coordinate inbound and outbound freight movement to ensure on-time service performance.
• Monitor operations to achieve productivity, safety, and customer service objectives.
• Ensure proper load planning, trailer utilization, and freight consolidation.
• Oversee route planning and linehaul scheduling to maximize efficiency.
• Manage workflow to minimize damage claims, shortages, and service failures.
• Lead, coach, and develop drivers, dockworkers, dispatchers, and support personnel.
• Conduct safety meetings, shift start-ups, and operational briefings; enforce safety practices.

Landside Operations Execution includes roles that manage and operate landside transport modalities, such as truck or rail transport of cargo/containers. Management stream includes those who primarily lead people for whom they have employee lifecycle responsibilities including hire/fire decisions, coaching/mentoring, coordination of tasks, appraising performance, pay reviews, and developing for future assignments. The management responsibilities are in addition to job specific accountabilities for objectives such as setting direction and developing business & operational areas, developing policies & practices, and implementing business plans. The planning horizon can vary from short to long term dependent on the career stage and goal achievement is typically accomplished through performance of direct and/or indirect reports. Progression within this stream reflects acquisition of broad technical expertise, business and industry knowledge, and process and people leadership capabilities. A colleague at this level works independently within defined boundaries and guidelines in a specific area but will need supervision and support on more complex tasks. Knowledge is required for the application of practical methods and techniques, work procedures and processes. Solutioning is through a choice between known alternatives, within the area of expertise and the leader will evaluate the appropriateness and effectiveness of the solution. The job requires previous work experience in a related area, or practical knowledge obtained via advanced education. Leaders at this level manage employees day-to-day and set priorities to ensure task completion. Coordinate inbound and outbound freight movement to ensure on-time service performance. Monitor operations to achieve company productivity, safety, and customer service objectives. Ensure proper load planning, trailer utilization, and freight consolidation. Oversee route planning and linehaul scheduling to maximize operational efficiency. Manage workflow to minimize damage claims, shortages, and service failures. Employee Leadership Lead, coach, and develop drivers, dockworkers, dispatchers, and support personnel. Conduct safety meetings, shift start-ups, and operational briefings. Monitor employee performance and provide corrective coaching when necessary. Assist with recruiting, interviewing, onboarding, and training new employees. Maintain employee engagement and promote a positive work environment. Safety and Compliance Ensure compliance with DOT, FMCSA, OSHA, company safety standards, and local regulations. Conduct safety inspections of equipment, trailers, docks, and facilities. Investigate accidents, injuries, and cargo damage incidents. Enforce safe work practices and fleet safety programs.

Pay range

Pay range: $70,304-$73,500k annually *The above stated pay range is the anticipated starting salary range for the position. The Company may adjust this range in light of prevailing market conditions and other factors such as location. The Company will work directly with the selected candidate(s) on the final starting salary in accordance with all applicable laws.
