Job summary

Oak Harbor Freight Lines, Inc. is looking for a supervisory dock lead to schedule and oversee loading/unloading, coordinate drivers, and ensure on-time, safe freight movement. This on-site position requires leadership, forklift experience, and strong communication.

The ideal candidate has 1+ year of supervisory experience in LTL freight, 2 years’ freight handling, and solid computer skills. A high school diploma is preferred; hazardous materials knowledge is a plus. Benefits are included.

Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year of supervisory experience in LTL freight, logistics, or transportation.
• 2 years of freight handling experience; LTL environment preferred.
• Forklift experience required.
• Basic English proficiency (reading, writing, and verbal).
• Strong work ethic and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Schedule and assign tasks for dock planning and setup.
• Observe loading and unloading of trucks for proper handling and distribution of freight while ensuring timely delivery.
• Supervise operations, procedures, and freight movement.
• Enforce all safety measures regarding freight balance for safe truck operation.
• Ensure compliance with administrative policies, procedures, safety rules, and government regulations.
• Train new dock employees and provide feedback, coaching, and discipline as needed in partnership with the Operations Manager.
• Create and maintain a teamwork-oriented environment.
• Coordinate drivers and assign trucks and delivery routes.
• Maintain equipment and facilities for effective, clean, and safe operations.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Skills, Experience, and Educational Requirements:

• Minimum of 1 year of supervisory experience in LTL freight, logistics, or transportation
• 2 years of freight handling experience; LTL environment preferred
• Proven leadership, team-building, and interpersonal skills
• Good computer skills (AS/400 and Microsoft Office preferred)
• Excellent verbal, written, and listening communication skills
• Knowledge of hazardous materials preferred
• Strong work ethic and problem-solving skills
• Ability to work independently and in a team environment
• Ability to work under tight time constraints in a high-volume environment with multiple priorities
• High school diploma or GED equivalent strongly preferred
• Previous warehouse or related experience strongly preferred
• Forklift experience required
• Basic English proficiency (reading, writing, and verbal) required
