The Public Works Department, a division of the City of Rochester, Minnesota, is responsible for planning, design, construction, and maintenance of public infrastructure, including streets, lighting, traffic control, water, and waste water facilities.
The Environmental Services Division is seeking seasonal employees for the 2025 construction season. The pay scale ranges from $16.81 to $19.96 per hour, depending on education and experience.
Work Schedule: Monday through Friday, 7:00 am to 3:30 pm.
Nature of Work: Selected individuals will assist maintenance staff with tasks performed by the sewer collection and wastewater treatment plant crews, focusing on preventative maintenance and construction activities.
Applications will be accepted until all positions are filled. Duties may vary based on assignment.
Primary responsibilities include:
Due to the hazardous nature of the work and equipment used, candidates must be at least 18 years old.
Education and Experience: High school diploma or equivalent (GED).
Licenses and Certifications: Valid driver’s license.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Ability to perform strenuous outdoor physical labor, lift objects weighing up to 100 lbs, establish effective working relationships, work in dusty or lightly rainy conditions, and follow written and oral instructions.
