Nature of Work
This is a part-time seasonal/temporary position that performs routine cleaning and maintenance duties to ensure that the City's ice facilities are clean, orderly, properly maintained and safe. Duties include operating the ice resurfacing (IR) machine in maintaining playable ice conditions and overseeing patron use of the facility. This position must be able to interact with the public in a professional, courteous, and helpful manner.
The Rec Center is open 7 days a week from 5:00 am-11:00 pm. This is a part-time year-round position, with flexible hours.

Duties And Responsibilities
The work below is representative of the scope of work performed within this job classification. Individual job duties will vary based on work assignment.
- Operate the ice resurfacing (IR) machine to maintain a quality sheet of ice.
- Oversee patron use of the facility.
- Collect money from customers to insure proper billing.
- Set up and tear down tables and chairs for user groups.
- Clean dasher boards and glass
- Clean and maintain seating areas, locker rooms and other auxiliary areas.
- Shovel snow as needed.
- Hook up sound system equipment.
- Monitor ice temperatures, pool filtration system and boiler operation.
- Enforce facility rules and all applicable local, state and federal standards.
Minimum Qualifications
High School diploma or the equivalent (GED)
At least 18 years of age
Additional Information
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Knowledge of: the game of hockey and applicable rules; custodial and building maintenance practices, supplies, and equipment.
Skill in: operating ice resurfacing machines and maintaining ice surfaces in playable condition.
Ability to: deal tactfully with the general public in person and on the phone; and understand and carry out oral and written assignments
PHYSICAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL CRITERIA
In compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act, the following represents the physical and environmental demands for this position. The employee must be able to perform the essential functions with or without accommodation.
Work is primarily done while standing, however climbing of stairs, ladders, bleachers, is often required along with movements such as bending, twisting and kneeling.
Working on ladders and/or above the head is occasionally required.
Lifting of objects weighing 50 pounds or more is occasionally required.
Exposure to cold, heat, fumes and noise.
Use of custodial cleaning agents and chemicals is required.
The bulk of the work is done indoors in a controlled environment, with occasional work required outdoors.
