Job summary

RPh on the Go in Asheville, NC is seeking a licensed Pharmacist for a contract-to-hire role in a specialized long-term care mail order setting. The position features a Monday–Friday schedule with four 10-hour shifts, options 9:00–7:00 or 10:00–8:00, for 13 weeks before permanent placement.

You will dispense medications, monitor patient adherence, ensure regulatory compliance, advise patients, and supervise staff.

Qualifications

• PharmD degree, active pharmacist license, and at least 1 year of pharmacist experience.
• Experience in long-term care and/or mail order pharmacy preferred.
• Sterile compounding experience is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Accept and dispense prescription medications accurately.
• Monitor patient medication compliance and detect over-usage patterns.
• Ensure medicine supplies comply with legal requirements.
• Verify that prescribed medications are appropriate for patients.
• Maintain confidential patient records and pharmacy files with precision.
• Advise patients on medication usage, potential reactions, and address inquiries.
• Provide consultations on prescription and non-prescription medications, including storage, dosage, side effects, and drug interactions.
• Offer patient services such as smoking cessation, blood pressure monitoring, and cholesterol management.
• Educate patients on proper use and handling of medical devices including blood pressure monitors and glucose meters.
• Compound medications and prepare sterile solutions following established procedures.
• Supervise pharmacy staff, including pharmacy technicians and clerks.
• Manage pharmaceutical and medical supply inventory effectively.
• Identify drug-related problems and communicate with healthcare professionals to resolve issues.
• Collaborate with physicians, nurses, pharmacists, and pharmacy interns.
