Raytheon Technologies invites applications for a Radar Diagnostics and Calibration Lead within the LTAMDS program. This role leads system-level technical efforts, defining radar software behavior and ensuring proper interaction between hardware subsystems, diagnostics, and released software builds.

You will guide maintenance engineering, establish FDFI foundations, and coordinate cross-functional teams across SE, SIT, and LCE CPTs. Based in Tewksbury, MA or Pelham, NH.

Responsibilities

  • Lead a team of SW / Systems engineers to meet strategic direction.
  • Lead FDFI and diagnostic maturity updates for fault detection and reporting.
  • Coordinate thread memo generation, review and approval for future FDFI capabilities.
  • Translate system needs into clear software requirements and SysCRs.
  • Analyze hardware–software interactions across LRUs, M3, gateway, and diagnostic infrastructure.
  • Define M3 software behaviors for soldier-replaceable LRUs and field maintenance workflows.
  • Document fault injection methods to support reviews of critical fault evaluation.
  • Support build planning, prioritization, and release readiness.
  • Troubleshoot system-level issues during integration and field events.
  • Participate in technical reviews to ensure SW/HW integration.
  • Maintain and communicate deep radar system knowledge to reduce tribal dependency.

Raytheon is seeking a talented and motivated Radar Diagnostics and Calibration Lead to join our team within the Systems Engineering and Test Capabilities (SETC) Discipline supporting the Lower Tier Air and Missile Defense Sensor (LTAMDS) Program.

This is an opportunity to serve as the system-level technical lead responsible for defining radar software behavior and ensuring correct interaction between hardware subsystems, diagnostics, and released software builds. This lead will be responsible for the strategic vision of Maintenance Engineering to ensure a Fault Detection and Fault Isolation (FDFI) foundation leading to CBM+ and prognostics fielded to the end user.

You will translate operational needs, failure modes, and maintainability requirements into clear, guidance for systems/software implementation and act as the primary integration authority between software, systems, integration/test, and Deployment Fielding and Sustainment teams. Collaboration across the Systems Engineering (SE), Systems Integration and Test (SIT) and Life Cycle Engineering (LCE) CPTs will be required.

This position can be based in Tewksbury, MA or Pelham, NH

What you will do:
  • Lead a team of SW / Systems engineers to meet strategic direction stated above
  • Lead FDFI and diagnostic maturity updates related to fault detection, isolation, and reporting logic
  • Coordinate thread memo generation, review and approval for future system FDFI capabilities
  • Translate system/operational needs into clear direction for team to:
    • Define clear, testable software requirements
    • Author SysCRs defining new functionality, corrections, and diagnostic behavior
    • Analyze hardware–software interactions across LRUs, M3, gateway, and diagnostic infrastructure
    • Identify cross-subsystem impacts and integration risks before implementation
    • Define M3 software behaviors supporting soldier-replaceable LRUs and field maintenance workflows
    • Document specific fault injection methods (through SW or HW) to support Stakeholder review of critical fault evaluation
    • Support build planning, prioritization, and release readiness
    • Troubleshoot system-level issues during integration and field events
  • Participate in technical reviews to ensure accurate SW/HW integration and SysCR implementation.
  • Maintain, document, and communicate deep radar system knowledge to reduce tribal dependency
Qualifications You Must Have:
  • Typically requires a Bachelors in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) and 10 years of prior relevant experience.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in related Systems Engineering or Multi-Disciplined Engineering
  • Experience effectively leading multidisciplinary teams of systems engineering professionals
  • Experience with complex embedded or real-time systems
Qualifications We Prefer:
  • Self-starter – proactive in determining goals and objectives and pursuing the necessary course of action
  • Experience understanding full-system behavior, not component-level impacts
  • Experience of reasoning through second/third-order effects of software changes
