Job summary

Sage Hill School seeks a Long-Term Substitute Teacher to maintain classroom continuity when faculty are absent and to support the School’s mission, programs, and standards of excellence.

Primary duties include collaborating with departments to implement lesson plans, advising and service learning, covering assigned sections, and following attendance and handbook guidelines while supervising the student community with confidentiality and sound judgment.

Qualifications

• BA/BS in an appropriate field.
• MA/MS preferred for advancement.
• Experience in independent school environment valued.

Responsibilities

Summary: A Long-Term Substitute Teacher is responsible is to teach or be present in the classroom when faculty members are absent. A Long-Term Substitute of Sage Hill School is devoted to teaching and learning, supports the School’s extracurricular programs, and contributes broadly to the life of the School while promoting the School’s mission. At all times, a Long-Term Substitute will maintain Sage Hill School’s standards of excellence and professionalism. A Long-Term Substitute is expected to be on campus and accessible during the time in which students are present for the academic day.Primary responsibilities include the following, but are not limited to:Collaborate with department and faculty to perform and carryout lesson plansProvide advisory, service learning, and other professional support as required by the assignmentCover the designated number of sections as defined by the assignmentFollow attendance guidelines established by the SchoolRead and follow the guidelines of the Academic Program Handbook and Employee HandbookAssume all other duties as assigned by the Department Chair and Assistant Head of School for Academics or Director of Middle SchoolSupervisory responsibilities: Supervise student community.• B.A. or B.S. degree in appropriate field, M.A. or M.S. preferred• Experience in independent school environment preferred• Excellent collegiality, professionalism and organizational ability• Superior oral and written communication skills• Ability to work well with teenagers and their parents• Ability to maintain confidentiality, use sound judgment, and work independently
