Description

Repair, troubleshoot and perform scheduled preventive maintenance on commercial food service cooking/plumbing equipment including ovens, steamers and brazing pans.

  • Identify and control hazardous working conditions and ensure all safety precautions have been taken before proceeding
  • Read and interpret blueprints and related drawings; perform the appropriate installations and repair procedures to minimize structural weakness
  • Cut and thread pipes; join pipes using various plumbing material or soldering; test for leaks using pressure gauges and leak detectors; assemble and install plumbing fixtures and pipes of heating, water and drainage systems according to specifications and plumbing codes
  • Assemble and install metal and non-metal valves, pipe fittings, pipes using hand and power tools
  • Repair and maintain plumbing for leaky faucets, burst pipes and clogged drains. Repair plumbing fixture sinks, commodes, water heaters, garbage disposal-units and grease traps
  • Maintain inventory of assigned tools, equipment and vehicles as assigned daily, inform supervisor of any known problems immediately and provide documentation during inspection and/or inventory of tools, equipment and vehicle as required
  • Follow district safety guidelines, using good safety practices for operating hand and power tools and equipment as needed for job completion. Wear safety equipment as assigned, at all times
  • Maintain accurate records for labor, material, work order completion, project orders, manufacture's technical data sheets, material safety data sheets and other maintenance records
  • Comply with district policies and procedures. Report observed maintenance problems that require action of other maintenance departments
  • Communicate effectively with principals, department heads, district staff and all other auxiliary services personnel in a professional manner in all phases necessary to locate, correct, repair and complete each job or project
  • Employee may be required to respond to after hours/emergency callouts, be placed on an emergency call out rotation and flex work hours to accommodate job completions
  • All federally funded incumbents of this position must comply with time and effort reporting requirements through personnel activity reports or periodic certification, as appropriate

Qualifications

  • Accredited Senior High School Diploma or valid equivalent (USA equivalency)
  • Valid Texas Driver License and acceptable driving record
  • Must pass drug/alcohol testing and randomly while employed
  • Three to five years experience in plumbing installation and repair
  • Demonstrated knowledge of municipal plumbing codes
  • Demonstrated ability to perform responsibilities under general supervision
  • Demonstrated organizational, communication and interpersonal skills required to achieve the goals of the position
  • Demonstrated skills in accurate record keeping and computer data base management, including work orders and material procurement
