Job summary

Wells Academy in Detroit is seeking a Lesser Restrictive Environment (LRE) Aide to support students with disabilities in the regular education setting. You will work with a building team to implement IEP accommodations and assist teachers.

This role emphasizes promoting independence, social interaction, and classroom participation, with supervision by general and special education staff. Prior college coursework or approved assessments are expected.

Qualifications

• Two years of study at an accredited institution (60 hours) or higher.
• Associate's degree or higher qualification.
• Ability to demonstrate knowledge via approved assessments.

Responsibilities

• Assist eligible students with disabilities in regular education settings.
• Implement accommodations and modifications from IEPs.
• Promote social acceptance and interaction with peers.
• Promote student independence in learning activities and tasks.
• Assist general and special education teachers with daily lessons.
• Assist in implementing behavior intervention strategies.
• Maintain a log of supports described in the IEP when not directly supervised.
