Job Summary

The role of the LPN at the clinic is to support and assist health care providers according to the clinic policy and procedures; and to assist and arrange for smooth, efficient, and high quality are in accordance with the mission statement of Summit Pacific Medical Center.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • 1. Ensure patient flow is optimal at all times. If wait times are apparent, communication to the patient, provider, and coworkers is required.
  • 2. Maintain current information on the patient’s health/care status. Notify patients of test results as directed and requested by providers. File documents in the electronic health record daily.
  • 3. Document presenting complaint; follow clinic policy and procedure on rooming patient and standardized vital signs. Prepare patients for their provider’s exam. Take telephone calls and provide relevant information to provider and patient.
  • 4. Carry out providers’ orders accurately and in a timely manner. Assist providers with treatments and procedures. Assemble all needed supplies. Ensure that adequate consent has been obtained by provider prior to all procedures when necessary. Administer immunizations under supervision of and as ordered by medical provider as covered by licensure. Ensures that all medications administered are signed by delegator and LPN and sent to the Department of Health.
  • Perform daily room checks and stock exam rooms with all needed supplies as needed. Coordinate with Environmental Services to maintain a neat and clean environment. Clean exam tables and countertops and maintain cupboards as needed. Check for outdates on supplies monthly.
  • Special projects and other related duties as assigned.

Required Education And Experience

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Completion of a Washington State approved Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) program.
  • One (1) year of work experience in an acute care setting is preferred.

Required Licenses, Certifications and/or Registrations

  • Active and unrestricted Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) licensure for the State of Washington.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required within three months of hire.

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

  • Knowledge of nursing procedures and functions.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of and ability to apply age specific principles of growth and development and life stages to meet each patient’s needs.
  • Intermediate level knowledge of office practices, procedures, and equipment.
  • Strong computer skills, including keyboarding and use of MS Office applications. Ability to learn and effectively use a variety of computer systems and software.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize assigned work in coordination with other activities.
  • Effective interpersonal and communication skills. Ability to read, write and speak the English language. Ability to communicate and document information accurately and legibly. Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
