Job Overview

UPMC is seeking a full-time Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to work in a float position, traveling between Healthy Families Primary Care and Bayfront ENT. The role offers daytime hours, typically from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, with some flexibility, and does not require weekends or holidays. The ideal candidate will have office and EMR experience and will work in both family practice and specialty settings, supporting essential healthcare services. Responsibilities
  • Assist in planning, implementing, and evaluating nursing care for patients and their families.
  • Obtain and interpret patient information considering age-specific needs.
  • Conduct patient interviews, answer healthcare questions, and provide counseling using available resources.
  • Administer medications and vaccines as ordered, staying updated on immunization and allergy injection requirements.
  • Sterilize office equipment, manage stock supplies, and maintain records.
  • Perform laboratory duties in compliance with OSHA and CLIA standards.
  • Identify and communicate educational needs to physicians and assist with patient teaching.
  • Assist physicians during examinations and perform specialized procedures.
  • Participate in continuing education to maintain competence, with proper documentation.
  • Demonstrate commitment to Service Excellence by understanding and meeting patient, family, and staff needs accurately and promptly.
Minimum Requirements
  • Graduate of an approved Practical Nursing program.
Preferred Qualifications
  • One year of clinical experience.
Licensure and Certifications
  • Licensed Practical Nurse in Pennsylvania.
  • CPR certification per AHA standards, including didactic and skills demonstration within 30 days of hire.
  • Complete licensure examination within four months of hire or within one year of graduation.
  • Temporary permits are valid for one year; licensure exam must be taken within 4 months of employment start date.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • Act 34 clearance.
  • Current licensure in the state of employment or multistate license under NLC, with a 60-day window to transfer residency if applicable.
