Job summary

Carle Health is seeking an LPN to support high-acuity patient care alongside RNs and UNLs in Illinois. The role includes medication administration, IV therapies, charting assessments, and care plan updates after RN initial assessment.

Responsibilities include wound care, NG tube management, ostomy care, and patient education with discharge planning, aligned to DNV Hip and Knee requirements where applicable. Equal opportunity employer.

Qualifications

• Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) certification with IDFPR.
• ACLS within 1 year - American Heart Association.
• BLS within 30 days - American Heart Association.
• LPN program completed.

Responsibilities

• Passes all medications and hangs IV piggybacks/fluids (excludes IV Push).
• Charts assessments on assigned patients after initial RN assessment.
• Charts on care plans developed by the RN.
• Coordinate with physicians/APPs to receive orders and plan care.
• Perform dressing changes and trach care as needed.
• Insert and care for NG tube and feedings via NG tube.
• Care for ostomy and reinforce discharge instructions.
• Ensure education is provided and annual education as required.

Overview

When unit is full, LPN will work with RNs with highest acuity or will be paired with an RN who has a heavy patient load. When the UNL has patients, the LPN will be paired with the UNL to assist with the UNL patient load. LPN tasks may include oral meds, IV piggyback meds, trach care, dressing changes, documentation on assessments and care plans after the RN has completed the first assessment and initiated the care plan.

Qualifications

Certifications: Licensed Practical l Nurse (RN) - Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation (IDFPR); Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) within 1 year - American Heart Association (AHA); Basic Life Support (BLS) within 30 days - American Heart Association (AHA), Education: LPN program, Work Experience: LPN >1yr

• As needed will have RN open new care plans

• Complete trach care as needed
• Insert and care for NG tube and feedings through NG tube
• Care for and change ostomy
• Reinforce education and discharge instructions
• If applicable, completes annual education as assigned to comply with DNV Hip and Knee Replacement Program requirements

Compensation and Benefits

The compensation range for this position is $38.93per hour - $63.35per hour. This represents a good faith minimum and maximum range for the role at the time of posting by Carle Health. The actual compensation offered a candidate will be dependent on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, the candidate's experience, qualifications, location, training, licenses, shifts worked and compensation model.
