Job Summary

Under the supervision of the Director of Nursing or appropriate shift supervisor, the Graduate Practical Nurse / Licensed Practical Nurse administers medically prescribed treatment, coordinates nursing care, and monitors the performance of acceptable standards of nursing care on his/her assigned nursing unit.

The Graduate Practical Nurse / Licensed Practical Nurse must demonstrate knowledge and skills appropriate to the age of the residents served, including adult through geriatric. They participate in planning, implementing, and evaluating nursing care, providing care as per departmental policies and procedures. Supervision exercised: Team Leader. Reports to: Nurse Aides.

Qualifications
  • Graduate of an accredited Nursing Program required.
  • Minimum of one (1) year of satisfactory experience in a geriatric setting preferred.
  • Must be cleared by PA State Police criminal history check.
  • Current license as a Licensed Practical Nurse issued by the Pennsylvania State Board of Nurse Examiners or eligible for licensure.
  • CPR certification required or must be obtained and maintained.
Skills and Abilities
  • Ability to provide age-appropriate care.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Interpersonal skills for effective interaction with staff, residents, and visitors.
  • Good management skills.
Physical Demands and Working Conditions
  • Heavy work involving exerting 50-100 lbs. of force occasionally, 25-50 lbs. frequently, and 10-25 lbs. constantly.
  • Ability to transport self throughout the facility.
  • Occasional exposure to blood, body substances, and needle sticks.
  • Work in resident living areas.
