Job summary

Riverside Health System in Smithfield, VA is seeking a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to support nursing care under supervision of a Registered Nurse, Nurse Manager, or Nursing Supervisor. The LPN will monitor residents, participate in planning and evaluation of care, and assist in supervising auxiliary staff.

Medication administration, patient safety, and adherence to facility policies are essential, with opportunities to lead teamwork and ensure high-quality resident care.

Qualifications

• Less than 1 year nursing experience (Preferred).
• Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) licensed by VDHP Upon Hire (Required).
• CPR/BLS Certification - American Heart Association/American Red Cross/AHA/ARC within 30 Days (Required).

Responsibilities

• Medications and treatments are administered accurately and according to provider's orders.
• Allows resident choices within limits of capability considering safety /dignity issues and follows policies and procedures of facility to include resident privacy and dignity.
• Assigns duties to non-professional staff such as CNAs according to education, training, policy and resident need in order to assure quality resident care is delivered. Engages team members for optimal performance and addresses performance as needed.
• Participates in administering medications, treatments, monitoring and observation of resident care. Identifies changes in condition with proper documentation according to standards of nursing practice. Demonstrates consistent follow through to promote positive resident outcomes. Utilizes good judgment and specialized skills.
