Job summary

Mercy is seeking a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to provide patient care under the supervision of licensed prescribers or a Registered Nurse. You will be responsible for using the nursing process, ensuring accountability for patient care, and coordinating with other departments.

Graduate of an accredited practical nursing program with an active LPN license and BLS certification are required. Additional certifications (ACLS, PALS, PEARS, STABLE) may be required depending on the unit and timely

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited practical nursing program.
• LPN license required and must maintain current licensure.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification; ACLS/PALS/other certifications may be required depending on unit or hire timeline.

Education

Graduate of an accredited practical nursing program; Consideration will be given for comparable education experience and successful licensure.

Licensure

Is personally responsible for obtaining, and maintaining a current LPN license within the hiring state in which nursing duties are performed and must meet all State Board of Nursing requirements

Experience

Can be new or experienced LPN

Certifications

Basic Life Support certification through the American Heart Association or successful completion of course within 30 days of hire

NOTE: one or more of the certifications below may be required based on the position/unit hired to, or acquisition of certification within department required timeframe:

• ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
• PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
• PEARS (Pediatric Assessment Recognition and Stabilization)
• S.T.A.B.L.E. (Sugar, Temperature, Airway, Blood Pressure, Lab Work, And Emotional Support)
• Six Assessment & Care Modules
• Other unit-specific certifications as required

Preferred Certifications

IV Certification within 1 year of hire

Physical Requirements

• Position requires individuals to push, pull, and/or lift 50 pounds on a regular basis.
• Position requires prolonged standing and walking each shift.
• Position requires the ability to grip, reach, bend, kneel, twist, and squat to perform duties.
