Job summary

The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) at Parkway Health Center, part of Baptist Health Arkansas, collects and documents admission and ongoing resident data with accuracy, reporting unusual findings to the RN and Physician.

The LPN administers medications per policy, implements the care plan, ensures a clean, safe environment, supports physicians, and supervises Certified Nursing Assistants, while prioritizing resident well-being.

Qualifications

  • Maintain a current and unencumbered Arkansas Practical Nurse License.
  • Maintains current knowledge and competency in nursing practice and in geriatric care.
  • Long term care experience preferred but not required.
  • Meets attendance policy and enhances team effectiveness.
  • Works as a team player, supporting and assisting the team.
  • Problem solves and identifies areas of concern in the work area and develops solutions.
  • Able to prioritize work load and complete in a timely manner.
  • Caring and able to work with geriatric clients and their family.
  • Ability to operate frequently used equipment, such as: telephone, stethoscope, thermometer, weight scales, blood pressure cuff, blood sugar checks, mechanical lifts, emergency equipment, wheel chairs, geri-chairs, bladder scans and any other unit specific equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Collect and document admission and ongoing resident data with accuracy.
  • Report unusual findings to the RN and Physician in a timely manner.
  • Perform procedures and treatments according to Physician orders, accurately and safely administering medications.
  • Implement the plan of care as directed by the RN and Physician, receiving and implementing orders accurately and on time.
  • Ensure a clean and safe environment according to unit standards and manage Physician consults and tests per protocol.
  • Provide immediate assistance to residents and consistently perform essential LPN skills, such as feeding tube care, foley catheter insertion, blood sugar checks, pulse oximetry, injections, and other unit specific skills as assigned.
  • Supervise the care provided by Certified Nursing Assistants.

Job description

Additionally, the LPN ensures a clean and safe environment according to unit standards and manages Physician consults and tests per protocol. They offer immediate assistance to residents and consistently perform essential LPN skills, such as feeding tube care, foley catheter insertion, blood sugar checks, pulse oximetry, injections, and other unit specific skills as assigned. Finally, the LPN supervises the care provided by Certified Nursing Assistants.
