Job summary

Benchmark Senior Living is seeking a compassionate Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to deliver nursing care to residents in a warm, home-like environment in Connecticut.

The role includes supervising Resident Care Assistants, coordinating care with community providers, and ensuring timely assessment and documentation. A current LPN license and CPR certification are required, with 1–2 years of nursing experience preferred.

Qualifications

  • Current state license as an LPN and CPR certification.
  • Graduate of an approved LPN program (per state requirements).
  • Minimum of 1 to 2 years of experience working as a nurse preferred.
  • Previous experience working with the elderly in a paid or volunteer position is highly desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Accurately assess, communicate, and document residents’ status.
  • Observe and report any significant changes in resident behavior and health to the Resident Care Director, physician, family, RCAs, and Executive Director per state regulations.
  • Direct and supervise the daily work assignments of the Resident Care Assistants.
  • Closely mentor, guide, and direct the Lead Resident Care Assistants in all aspects of their job.
  • Coordinate care needs with community providers via an effective case management process.
  • Effectively balance service demands with supporting resident independence.
  • Recognize and assist in the prevention of elder abuse, neglect, and exploitation (financial and other) and report to appropriate sources per state regulations.
  • Respond to emergencies and personal emergency response system calls, and know when to call for backup.
