Job summary

Advanced Correctional Healthcare, Inc. seeks an LPN to provide nursing care in a correctional setting, delivering timely patient care, medication administration, and education under the supervision of practitioners.

Responsibilities include vital signs, documentation, coordinating services with medical staff, and adhering to HIPAA and safety standards. Training and shifts across ACH facilities may occur.

Qualifications

• Active nursing license in the state where services are provided, in good standing.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification; hands-on training.
• Excellent documentation skills.
• Knowledge of the LPN scope of practice.

Responsibilities

• Understands and performs work within the LPN’s scope of practice.
• Timely and accurately plan and deliver nursing care to patients.
• Check and record vital signs, peak flows, glucose, weight, and other tests on-site when appropriate.
• Prioritize intake screenings for necessity and priority at sick call.
• Provide patient education on facility policies and discharge planning.
• Administer prescribed medication and treatments as ordered.
• Record information in clinic and outcome study documents.
• Provide emergency first aid care as appropriate.
• Report reactions to treatments and medications and changes in condition.
• Collect and record data for CQI reporting.
• Record care information concisely, accurately, and completely, on appropriate forms.
• Coordinate multiple medical services for diagnosis and treatment.
• Maintain pharmacology knowledge, including drug reactions/overdose.
• Maintain knowledge of therapeutic diets and nutrition.
• Coordinate on- and off-site medical services with staff as directed.
• Utilize Universal Precautions for infection prevention and control.
• Maintain patient confidentiality and HIPAA practices as required.
• Notify supervisor of medical and security incidents.
• Present/participate in in-service education sessions.
• May cover shifts at other ACH facilities.
• May train new hires and coworkers.
• Any other duties as assigned.
