Carilion Clinic in Christiansburg is seeking a full-time LPN Outpatient for General and Vascular Surgery to provide practical nursing support in a clinic setting. You will assist with patient care, clinical procedures, and coordination of services under physician direction.

Responsibilities include patient assessments, specimen collection and exam prep, administering medications, EMR documentation, patient education, and supporting referrals and telehealth services as applicable.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited practical nurse program eligible for Virginia licensure.
• Current LPN license in Virginia; limited Radiologic Technician license if radiology tasks.
• BLS-HCP certification required.
• Strong customer service orientation and effective communication skills; EMR proficiency.

Responsibilities

• Provide nursing support in a physician practice or clinic; assist with patient care and procedures.
• Perform patient assessments, vital signs, and medication reconciliation; prep for visits.
• Administer medications and injections; document in EMR with accuracy and timeliness.

Collaborates with healthcare providers and team members to deliver safe, efficient, and patient-centered care.The LPN OutpatientProvides practical nursing support under the direction of a physician or advanced practice provider in a clinic setting.Performs patient assessments, including vital signs, chief complaint, and medication reconciliation.Prepares patients for provider evaluation, including specimen collection, positioning, and assistance during exams and procedures.Administers medications and injections as directed by the provider.Documents patient information accurately and timely in the electronic medical record, including treatment updates, medication refills, test results, and patient concerns.Provides patient education related to medications, treatments, and follow-up care as directed by the provider.Assists with referral authorizations and pre-authorizations for tests and ancillary services.Maintains exam, treatment, and lab areas in a clean and safe condition and ensures supplies and equipment are available.Performs laboratory-related tasks as applicable, including specimen collection, preparation, and basic testing following appropriate training and quality standards.Performs radiology-related tasks as applicable, including assisting with imaging procedures and ensuring proper safety precautions and documentation.Adheres to infection control, safety standards, and proper handling and disposal of specimens and materials.Supports telehealth services, including tele-retinal and tele-dermatology setup as applicable.What We Require:Education: Graduate of an accredited school of practical nursing required, or a new graduate of an approved program eligible to sit for the Virginia licensure exam.Experience: None.Licensure, Certification, and/or Registration: Current licensure as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) in the Commonwealth of Virginia required. Limited Radiologic Technician license required for roles performing radiology functions.Life Support: Current AHA BLS-HCP certification required.Other Minimum Qualifications: Strong customer service orientation. Effective verbal and written communication skills. Ability to problem solve and communicate effectively with a wide range of individuals.
