Job summary

Carilion Clinic seeks a full-time LPN to provide outpatient nursing support in a Daleville clinic. You will assist with exams, take vital signs, administer meds, and document in the EMR under a physician's direction. Occasional travel to other clinics may be required.

Qualified candidates are graduates of an accredited practical nursing program, hold a Virginia LPN license, and maintain BLS-HCP certification. This role offers a weekday daytime schedule and a sign-on bonus per policy.

• Graduate of an accredited practical nursing program; eligible to sit Virginia licensure exam.
• Current LPN license in the Commonwealth of Virginia required; BLS-HCP certification.

Responsibilities

• Provide practical nursing support under physician direction in a clinic.
• Assess patients including vital signs and medication reconciliation.
• Prepare patients for evaluation, assist during exams and procedures.
• Administer medications and injections per provider orders; document in EMR.
• Support referrals and pre-authorizations; maintain clean exam areas.

Collaborates with healthcare providers and team members to deliver safe, efficient, and patient-centered care.This position is full time, working Monday-Friday 8a-5pThis position is eligible for a sign-on bonus when successful candidate meets applicable guidelines.The position does require occasional travel to other clinics for staffing needs.LPN OutpatientProvides practical nursing support under the direction of a physician or advanced practice provider in a clinic setting.Performs patient assessments, including vital signs, chief complaint, and medication reconciliation.Prepares patients for provider evaluation, including specimen collection, positioning, and assistance during exams and procedures.Administers medications and injections as directed by the provider.Documents patient information accurately and timely in the electronic medical record, including treatment updates, medication refills, test results, and patient concerns.Provides patient education related to medications, treatments, and follow-up care as directed by the provider.Assists with referral authorizations and pre-authorizations for tests and ancillary services.Maintains exam, treatment, and lab areas in a clean and safe condition and ensures supplies and equipment are available.Performs laboratory-related tasks as applicable, including specimen collection, preparation, and basic testing following appropriate training and quality standards.Performs radiology-related tasks as applicable, including assisting with imaging procedures and ensuring proper safety precautions and documentation.Adheres to infection control, safety standards, and proper handling and disposal of specimens and materials.Supports telehealth services, including tele-retinal and tele-dermatology setup as applicable.What We Require:Education: Graduate of an accredited school of practical nursing required, or a new graduate of an approved program eligible to sit for the Virginia licensure exam.Experience: None.Licensure, Certification, and/or Registration: Current licensure as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) in the Commonwealth of Virginia required. Limited Radiologic Technician license required for roles performing radiology functions.Life Support: Current AHA BLS-HCP certification required.Other Minimum Qualifications: Strong customer service orientation. Effective verbal and written communication skills. Ability to problem solve and communicate effectively with a wide range of individuals.
