Job summary

Essentia Health in Brainerd and Baxter, MN is seeking an LPN or CMA to join our Pediatric Team in an ambulatory care setting. You will provide direct patient care, assist with examinations, administer medications, and support care coordination to meet the health system’s goals.

This 0.8 FTE role offers day shifts, no weekends, 7:30 AM–5:00 PM, generous benefits, and opportunities for professional development. Active BCLS certification or ability to obtain within 3 months is required.

Qualifications

• This position requires professional licensure or certification as a Medical Assistant or LPN.
• Certification within required timeframe may be necessary per hiring criteria.

Responsibilities

• Patient Care and Monitoring: Perform routine assessments, record histories, and observe symptoms.
• Assisting with Procedures: Support physicians and nurses during examinations and minor procedures.
• Medication Administration: Administer prescribed medications and monitor for adverse reactions.
• Coordination of Care: Work with clinicians to develop and implement care plans and arrange follow-ups.
• Patient Intake and Preparation: Gather histories and prepare patients for exams.

Job Description:

Education Qualifications:

This LPN/CMA will support our Pediatric Team (RNs, Physicians, and other providers). You will provide direct patient care in the ambulatory care setting to contribute to meeting the mission and goals of Essentia Health.

Key Roles and Responsibilities:

• Patient Care and Monitoring: Perform routine assessments such as measuring vital signs, recording patient histories, and observing symptoms to assist in diagnosing and monitoring patient health.
• Assisting with Procedures: Support physicians and nurse practitioners during examinations and minor procedures by preparing equipment, assisting with patient positioning, and ensuring proper infection control.
• Medication Administration: Administer prescribed medications, including injections and oral drugs, and monitor patients for any adverse reactions or side effects, ensuring accurate documentation.
• Coordination of Care: Collaborate with physicians, nurse practitioners, and other healthcare professionals to develop and implement individualized care plans, and assist in coordinating follow-up appointments and referrals.
• Patient Intake and Preparation: Conduct initial patient intake processes, including gathering medical histories, updating personal information, and preparing patients for examination or diagnostic testing.

This position will work the following:

• 32 hours/week
• No Weekends
• 8 Hour Shifts
• Day Shift: 7:30AM - 5:00PM

Licensure/CertificationQualifications:

• Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certified, or able to obtain within 3 months.
