Job summary

Sanford Health is seeking Licensed Practical Nurses (LPN) and Medical Assistants (MA) to provide patient care and support within a collaborative healthcare environment. Summary

The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) will participate in the implementation and evaluation of patient care, under the supervision of a registered nurse, advanced practice provider, or physician.

The Medical Assistant (MA) functions within the administration pre-defined scope of practice guidelines per state location of practice.

Job Description
LPN:
  • Ensures the health, comfort, and safety of patients.
  • Documents a thorough medical history from the patient.
  • Contributes to the assessment of patients and administers medications or treatments as ordered.
  • Provides technical support to healthcare professionals as needed.
  • Counsels patients and family members, under the direction of a registered nurse, on prevention and treatment plans.
  • Practices within the full scope of nursing expertise/knowledge and uses appropriate age and population-specific standards.
MA:
  • Collects subjective and objective health status data from the patient or caregiver.
  • Communicates data to healthcare providers and follows the patient's care plan under provider supervision.
  • Communicates provider’s instructions to the patient or caregiver.
  • Participates in care across the lifespan, including preventative care, health maintenance, treatment, and follow-up.
  • Performs duties such as obtaining vital signs, preparing patients for examinations, observing and reporting signs or symptoms, and performing point of care testing.
Qualifications
LPN:
  • Graduate from an accredited practical nursing program.
  • For IV therapy/management skills, in North Dakota: graduation from an AASPN program including IV therapy or completion of an approved IV Therapy course.
  • Unencumbered LPN license with the State Nursing board and/or multi-state licensure privileges.
MA:
  • Graduate of a recognized Medical Assistant program.
  • Prior healthcare experience preferred.
  • National certification or registration as a Medical Assistant (CMA, RMA, or equivalent).
  • Additional state requirements: North Dakota registration as an MAIII; Minnesota, Iowa, South Dakota, and Oregon do not require state registration.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within six months of employment, with recertification as required.
