Overview
The LPN-OB/GYN-Greenlawn, NY - Full Time Day Offsite position supports the healthcare team by assisting in planning and implementing care interventions, promoting high-quality patient care in a professional, efficient, and safe manner, and ensuring patient flow. The Offsite Licensed Practice Nurse provides personal assistance, medical attention, emotional support, or other personal care to patients and maintains up-to-date knowledge to apply to everyday practice.
Responsibilities
- Introduces self to patient and escorts the patient into the exam room.
- Prepares the patient for exams and procedures.
- Explains treatment procedures, medications, diets, and physicians\' instructions to patients.
- Administers medications including all types of injections and IV therapy as needed and within the scope of licensure.
- Provides basic patient care and treatments, such as dressing wounds, performing catheterizations, or applying compresses.
- Collects, labels, and processes specimens accurately.
- Cleans and prepares medical treatment rooms for patient visits.
- Assembles and uses equipment appropriate to the specific medical practice.
- Schedules follow-up appointments for patients as needed.
- Communicates delays effectively when necessary.
- Enters patient information into the computer accurately and in a timely manner.
- Manages the physician\'s desktop accurately and efficiently.
- Provides clerical support to patients including making appointments, booking procedures, obtaining pre-authorizations, and answering telephones.
- Manages medical inventory and supply ordering based on par levels.
- Must work under the supervision of the physician or Registered Nurse.
- Performs other related duties.
Qualifications
- Must hold a current New York state LPN license.
- High school Diploma or equivalent
- Active BLS card from the American Heart Association
- Ability to read and write and perform basic arithmetic calculations to take and record height, vital signs, and to comprehend and follow verbal instructions when assisting physicians.
- Knowledge of basic biology, anatomy and physiology, typing and medical terminology.
- Interpersonal skills sufficient to interact effectively with patients, physicians and other practice personnel.
- Ability to work independently, concentrate and pay attention to detail.
