Job summary

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited Practical or Vocational Nursing Program.
• Current Florida licensure as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN).
• Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification through American Heart Association or Red Cross.
• IV Therapy Certificate to be obtained within three months of hire.
• Knowledge of infection control practices.
• Knowledge of quality improvement practices.

Responsibilities

• Involve patient/family in the development of care plan.
• Prioritize and perform direct care to patients.
• Explain and document procedures and interventions.
• Identify and respond in emergent situations.
• Assist multidisciplinary team with patient care processes.
• Delegate tasks based on patient needs and staff competencies.
• Utilize and document patient safety restraints per hospital policy.
• Perform IV skills including starts per unit policy.
• Document medications on MAR and monitor responses.
• Report medication errors and adverse reactions per policy.
• Demonstrate knowledge of medications and side effects.
• Develop care plans based on educational assessment.
• Provide discharge instructions/education and facilitate safe discharge.
