Job description

Weight and Wellness Medical Assistant

Position: 40 hours per week, Days

Location: Washington, MO

Overview:
  • Prepares patients for visits with providers by completing the Advanced Standard room process, including:
    1. Entering the chief complaint
    2. Taking vital signs; reviewing patient history and allergies
    3. Completing medication reconciliation
    4. Utilizing the Encounter Guide to help close care gaps (e.g., fall risk, depression screening, cancer screenings, diabetic eye exam)
    5. Rechecking elevated blood pressures
    6. Documenting in Epic for preventative visits as needed
  • Assists with in-office testing (e.g., blood draws, mental status exams, EKGs, oxygen studies, point of care testing)
  • Administers vaccines and injections within scope of practice
  • Schedules follow-up appointments per office policy
  • Collaborates with healthcare team to monitor and coordinate care
Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Certification: BLS certification within 90 days of hire
  • Preferred experience: 6 months in clinical healthcare, preferably in primary care
Additional Roles:
  • Primary Care - Certified Medical Assistant: Must have active CMA/RMA/CCMA certification and BLS within 90 days
  • LPN: Diploma in Practical Nursing, active licensure, and preferred 6 months experience
