Job summary

Firelands Health in Sandusky, OH, is seeking a qualified nurse to provide professional care under physician supervision. The role includes health promotion, patient care, and assisting with clinic services.

Requirements include Ohio-licensed Practical Nurse (or equivalent with MA cert), CPR, and ability to function as a medical scribe. Prior urgent care experience and strong nursing process knowledge are preferred.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited practical nursing program with current licensure in Ohio.
• Or high school diploma with Medical Assistant certification.
• Ability to perform as a medical scribe.
• Prior experience in a medical office/urgent care setting preferred.
• Current CPR certification.
• Knowledge of nursing process and clinical reasoning.
• Valid Ohio driver’s license; insurable under Firelands auto policy.

Responsibilities

• Provide professional nursing care and services under physician supervision.
• Assist physicians with patient care and information to help patients utilize clinic services.
• Monitor patient flow, document vitals, and record current medications.
• Perform technical tasks such as phlebotomy, EKGs, and stress testing as needed.
• Schedule procedures and tests; maintain equipment and documentation.

Position Summary

Performs professional nursing care and services for assigned physician(s) or department(s) under the general policies and procedures established by FPG. Under supervision of the physician(s), participates in providing health promotion, health maintenance, and management of illnesses. Responsible for assisting physicians with patient care and provides information to patients so they may fully utilize and benefit from clinic services. Responsible for performing a variety of clinical duties including but not limited to: monitoring patient flow, obtaining and documenting patient vitals, document current medications, chief complaint, performing technical laboratory functions including phlebotomy/EKG/stress testing, monitor/track/charge medical equipment, scheduling procedures and tests, and medical scribe duties.

What you will need:

• Must be a graduate of an accredited program of practical nursing with current licensure in the state of Ohio.
• OR must be a High school graduate. Medical Assistant certification required.
• Must have the ability to perform as a medical scribe.
• Prior experience in a medical office/urgent care setting preferred.
• Current CPR certification.
• Must be knowledgeable of technical application of nursing process.
• Must possess critical thinking skills, including skill in exercising initiative, judgement, problem solving, and decision making.
• Must possess a valid State of Ohio motor vehicle operator's license and insurable under Firelands auto policy. Employee must provide proof of personal automobile liability insurance coverage upon request.
