Job summary

Firelands Health in Sandusky, OH, is seeking a qualified practical nurse to join our patient-care team. Under physician supervision, you will provide health promotion, maintenance, and illness management, and support physicians with patient care.

You will monitor patient flow, document vitals, medications, and assist with lab testing and procedures, while delivering compassionate, patient-centered nursing services in a not-for-profit community hospital setting.

Qualifications

• Must be a graduate of an accredited practical nursing program with current Ohio licensure.
• OR high school graduate with Medical Assistant certification.
• Must have the ability to perform as a medical scribe.
• Prior experience in a medical office/urgent care setting preferred.
• Current CPR certification.
• Must possess critical thinking, initiative, judgment, problem solving and decision making.

Responsibilities

• Performs professional nursing care and services under physician supervision.
• Assists physicians with patient care and provides information for clinic services.
• Monitors patient flow, obtains and documents vitals, records medications and chief complaints.
• Performs technical laboratory functions including phlebotomy, EKG, and stress testing.
• Schedules procedures and tests and manages medical equipment tracking/charging.
• Acts as a medical scribe as needed.

Position Summary

Performs professional nursing care and services for assigned physician(s) or department(s) under the general policies and procedures established by FPG. Under supervision of the physician(s), participates in providing health promotion, health maintenance, and management of illnesses. Responsible for assisting physicians with patient care and provides information to patients so they may fully utilize and benefit from clinic services. Responsible for performing a variety of clinical duties including but not limited to: monitoring patient flow, obtaining and documenting patient vitals, document current medications, chief complaint, performing technical laboratory functions including phlebotomy/EKG/stress testing, monitor/track/charge medical equipment, scheduling procedures and tests, and medical scribe duties.

What you will need:

• Must be a graduate of an accredited program of practical nursing with current licensure in the state of Ohio.
• OR must be a High school graduate. Medical Assistant certification required.
• Must have the ability to perform as a medical scribe.
• Prior experience in a medical office/urgent care setting preferred.
• Current CPR certification.
• Must be knowledgeable of technical application of nursing process.
• Must possess critical thinking skills, including skill in exercising initiative, judgement, problem solving, and decision making.
• Must possess a valid State of Ohio motor vehicle operator's license and insurable under Firelands auto policy. Employee must provide proof of personal automobile liability insurance coverage upon request.
