Job summary

Palmdale Regional Medical Center, part of Universal Health Services, seeks a Licensed Vocational Nurse to provide direct nursing care under supervision in the Birth Place unit. The facility features a 25-private-room Labor/Delivery area, labor/delivery/recovery suites, and comprehensive services.

This role supports a diverse patient population in a busy hospital setting.

Qualifications

• Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
• Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and report to the RN.
• 1 year experience in an acute care hospital setting preferred.
• Graduate of and approved/accredited Vocational School of Nursing.
• Current Vocational Nurse licensure in the State of California.
• Current Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS) training for health care providers.
• CPI is required within 30 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Provide nursing care for patients under the direction of the Department Manager, Registered Nurse, and/or Charge Nurse.
• Utilize the nursing process to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate direct and indirect nursing care of the critically ill patient.
• Follow the California Vocational Nurse Practice Act.

Essential Job Duties:

Under the direction of the Department Manager, Registered Nurse, and / or Charge Nurse, the Licensed Vocational Nurse is responsible for providing nursing care for patients and is guided by the policies and procedures of Nursing department and the hospital. Utilizes the nursing process to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate direct and indirect nursing care of the critically ill patient. Follows the California Vocational Nurse Practice Act

Requirements:

• Must possess ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental egulations. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from patients, families and the general public in a positive manner. Mathematical Skills Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
• Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and report to the RN effectively. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical/clinical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables. Follows the nursing plan of care and initiate changes, needs critical thinking skills in concert with the RN.
• 1 year previous experience in an acute care hospital setting preferred.
• Graduate of and approved/accredited Vocational School of Nursing.
• Current Vocational Nurse licensure in the State of California. Current Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS) training for health care providers.
• CPI is required within 30 days of hire.
