Alabama Clinical Schools invites applications for a PRN Licensed Practical Nurse to support behavioral health programs in the Birmingham area. The role requires an active Alabama LPN license and CPR certification, with the potential for limited or variable hours.

The LPN will collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams to monitor patients, intervene when needed, and assist with staffing considerations under RN supervision. Prior psychiatric experience is preferred but not required.

Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited school of practical nursing.
  • Current status as a Licensed Practical Nurse in the State of Alabama.
  • Current CPR Certification required.
  • One (1) Year Psychiatric Experience Preferred, But Not Required.
  • Must have a successful background, drug screening, and ABI/FBI fingerprints.

Responsibilities

  • Direct physical management of the patient and maintain CPR certification.
  • Collaborates with members of other disciplines.
  • Observes patient behavior for changes to intervene therapeutically and guide non-professional nursing staff; communicates changes to appropriate staff and records changes.
  • Assists with staffing process for nursing issues; reviews staffing schedule and informs managers of potential overtime issues; assists managers in making necessary changes as directed by the Registered Nurse.

Our treatment services range from intensive residential treatment for males ages 9-18 to therapeutic foster care for males and females of all ages. Our RISE and Specialized Therapeutic Foster Care programs for boys are the only programs of their kind in the State of Alabama.
