Job summary

Riverside Medical Clinic is hiring an LVN to support multiple clinical offices across the Riverside region. You will assist in examinations, take vital signs, document charges and history, and support patient education while adhering to infection control practices.

Responsibilities include room preparation, physician assistance, IV initiation, medication administration, and routine labs under supervision. Requires CA LVN license, BLS, and ability to travel between locations.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED is required.
  • Current California LVN license is required.
  • Graduate of an accredited LVN program.
  • Two years’ experience in a multi-specialty group setting preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Cooperates in cross training to ensure coverage at all times for all offices.
  • Interview patients; measure vital signs, pulse rate, temperature, BP, weight and height.
  • Prepare treatment room; assist physician; sterilize equipment after use.
  • Explain procedures to patients and families to gain cooperation and understanding.
  • Administer prescribed medication and document time, dosage and route.
  • Administer treatments and perform routine lab tests under supervision.
  • Initiate IV lines and manage IV fluids as directed; must be IV certified.
  • Perform EKG, pulse oximetry, and related procedures.
  • Travel between departments/facilities as needed for coverage; inventory supplies.
  • Work within LVN scope and Riverside Medical Clinic policies.
  • Discard expired sample meds and patient supplies on expiration date.
  • Maintain current California LVN licensure and BLS certificate.

SUMMARY

Responsible for covering clinical offices based on operational need. Assists in the examination and treatment of patients, take vital signs, record patient charges, record patient history, assist in minor office procedures. Participate in patient education, communicating effectively with others and functioning in the scope of practice. Thorough knowledge of infection control and aseptic techniques. Required to work at varied locations

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required. Current California licensure as a Licensed Vocational Nurse. Graduate of accredited school of Licensed Vocational Nursing. Two years’ experience preferred working as an LVN in a multi-specialty group setting.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, AND REGISTRATIONS

Current California LVN License, Current AHA Basic Life Support for Healthcare Professional (AHA BLS Healthcare) - American Heart Association Certification and IV Certification required. Current ACLS Certification (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - American Heart Association preferred.

Essential Functions

Essential functions are those tasks, duties and responsibilities that comprise the means of accomplishing the job’s purpose and objectives.   • Cooperates in the cross training of this position to ensure coverage at all times for all offices.
  • Interview patients; measure vital signs, pulse rate, temperature, blood pressure, weight, and height; record information on patient’s chart.
  • Prepare treatment room for examination of patients; assist physician with procedures; clean examination room and sterilize appropriate equipment after use.
  • Explain procedures and treatments to patients and their family in order to gain cooperation, understanding, and allay apprehension.
  • Administer prescribed medication orally or by injection (subcutaneous, intramuscularly, intradermal) and document time, dosage, and route on the patient’s chart. Observe patient and report any adverse reactions.
  • Administer treatments, and perform routine laboratory tests under supervision of a Physician, Allied Health Professional, or an RN.
  • Initiate intravenous lines, add plain IV fluids to existing lines, and discontinue lines under the direction of the Physician or an Allied Health Professional (must be IV certified).
  • Perform electrocardiograph (EKG), pulse oximetry, inhalation treatments, and operate other equipment as certified.
  • Travels between departments and facilities on an as-needed basis based on coverage requirements. Inventory and order medical supplies and materials, as needed.
  • Functions in the LVN scope of practice and Riverside Medical Clinic policies and procedures.
  • Responsible for ensuring all expired sample medications and patient supplies are discarded upon expiration date.
  • Maintains current California LVN licensure and BLS certificate.
