Position Details

Position Title: LPN - Licensed Practical Nurse - Phase I Infusion Clinic - Stephenson Cancer Center

Department: SCC Phase 1 Infusion Center

Location: Stephenson Cancer Center

Shift: Part-Time (20 hours/week), 10-hour shifts

Note: Phase 1 is an outpatient Clinical Trials department at the Stephenson Cancer Center, ranked among the top 10 in the nation, providing access to innovative treatments and trials. The environment is fast-paced, requiring excellent communication, multitasking, and a willingness to learn.

Job Description

Under supervision of a registered nurse, provides nursing care to patients with complex oncology diagnoses in an outpatient setting. Responsibilities include administering medications, observing and reporting patient conditions, collecting data, ensuring accurate documentation, coordinating care, and demonstrating knowledge of oncology treatments and side effects.

Responsibilities
  • Administers medications safely under physician direction
  • Observes, records, and reports patient reactions
  • Provides care according to nursing plans
  • Collects relevant patient data
  • Maintains accurate chart entries
  • Communicates with care team
  • Coordinates care delivery and promotes health and safety
  • Documents progress and uses evidence-based practices
  • Works with experienced clinicians for guidance
  • Triages calls and assists with infusion/biotherapy, blood products, and radiation therapies as applicable
  • Manages IV therapy and hydration
  • Manages patient care related to cancer treatments and side effects
Minimum Qualifications
  • Completion of educational requirements for NCLEX-PN; oncology-specific training within 1 year
  • Preferred: Oncology or healthcare office experience
  • Current LPN license issued by Oklahoma State Board of Nursing or multistate compact license (eNLC)
  • Current BLS certification from American Heart Association
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Knowledge of nursing practices and procedures
  • Organizational and evaluative skills for patient care
  • Excellent communication skills
