Job Summary
Geisinger is offering a part‑time Inpatient Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) position at Geisinger Community Medical Center (GCMC). The role is scheduled for days, with 24 weekly hours. Working under a Temporary Practice Permit until NCLEX is possible.
Responsibilities
- Contribute data to assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of patient care.
- Promote adaptive responses of patients/family to achieve highest level of care, safety and satisfaction.
- Provide compassionate care during patient‑nurse interactions.
- Coordinate patient care and interaction of staff.
- Meet the qualifications to provide care for patients in the assigned unit.
- Contribute data to assessments as established by scope of practice and unit standards.
- Address physical, psychological, social, cultural, and spiritual needs of patient and family.
- Reinforce patient and family education and discharge planning.
- Provide direct patient care, including treatments, medications, and diagnostic studies per policy and procedure.
- Evaluate effectiveness of nursing interventions and plan of care based on patient response.
- Initiate collaboration with physicians, ancillary personnel, and other interdisciplinary team members; act proactively to resolve and facilitate patient needs.
- Participate in unit‑based decision‑making regarding evidence‑based practice.
- Provide input to manager for performance appraisals of care‑delivery team members.
- Precept and mentor new staff and students in a professional, positive manner.
Qualifications
- Graduate from a Specialty Training Program‑Nursing (required).
- Licensed Practical Nurse (licensing body default).
- Basic Life Support Certification.
- Cardiac experience preferred; willing to learn and grow.
- Strong interest in Cardiac Nursing Care.
- Communication, computer literacy, customer service, multitasking, teamwork skills.
Position Details
Hours: 7:00am – 7:30pm, every other weekend and holiday.
