Job summary

Mount Carmel Health System in Columbus, OH is seeking a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to work in the Emergency Department on a three 12-hour shifts per week schedule from noon to 12:30am, with every third weekend and rotating holidays. Prior ED or hospital experience preferred.

The LPN will provide nursing care under the direction of a Registered Nurse, following the Nursing Process and Mount Carmel policies.

Qualifications

• Graduate of School of Practical Nursing.
• Current license to practice as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) in the State of Ohio.
• Pharmacology course with NAPNES/OOPNES Certification or Ohio Board of Nursing Card.
• LPN IV therapy course with proof of certification.

Responsibilities

• Provide nursing care and ensure patient safety; promote evidence-based practice and quality initiatives.
• Communicate pertinent clinical information to the patient care team and keep patient/family informed.
• Administer medications according to organizational standards and guidelines.
• Document accurately pertinent information in accordance with documentation standards.
• Direct unlicensed staff under RN supervision and manage patient assignments effectively.

• This LPN will be working in the Emergency Department at Mount Carmel St. Ann's three 12-hour shifts per week from Noon - 12:30am with every third weekend and rotating holidays.

Position Purpose:

The Licensed Practical NurseLPN- with Meds, within the scope of the Ohio Nurse Practice Act, will provide care in an atmosphere sensitive to each person’s physical, emotional, social, and spiritual needs.Functioning in the spirit of teamwork, under the direction of a Registered Nurse, is accountable for the delivery of patient care utilizing the Nursing Process within the standards, policies, procedures, and guidelines of the Organization.

• Provides nursing care, ensures an environment of patient safety, promotes evidence-based practice and quality initiatives, andexhibitsprofessionalism in nursing practice within the model of the ANCC Magnet Recognition Program®.

• Communicates pertinent clinical information toappropriate membersof the patient care team.Keepspatient/family appraised/updated.

• Performs treatments and procedures according to approved standards, policies, procedures, and guidelines. Administers medications, according to the organization’s standards, policies,proceduresand/or guidelines.

• Directs unlicensed staff inwork relatedactivities under the supervision of a Registered Nurse. Demonstrates the ability to managethe patient assignmenteffectively.
  

Minimum Qualifications:

• Education:Graduate ofSchool of Practical Nursing.

• Licensure / Certification: Current license to practice as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) in the State of Ohio.Successful completion of an approved Pharmacology Course with NAPNES Certification, OOPNES Certification or Ohio Board of Nursing Card.Successful completion of an LPN IV therapy course with proof of certification.
