Job Description

Join our outstanding Bedlam Clinic team at OU Tulsa where we provide healthcare to uninsured individuals in our community, while supporting Medical Student, Physician Assistant (PA), Nursing and Social Work education. This is a full-time position; we work Monday -Thursday (Fridays off). The clinic is in session Tuesday afternoons as well as Tuesday and Thursday evenings. We manage patient referrals, labs, clinic follow up and the coordination needed to serve our patients and support student learning when the clinic is not in session.

Bedlam Clinic recently celebrated 20 years of service to our community while serving as a learning lab for Medical and PA students under the supervision of faculty physicians and our Advanced Practice provider.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Coordinating with our referral team, handling patient inquiries, and communicating test results.
  • Collaborating with a multidisciplinary team including Medical & PA students, nursing students, faculty, academic departments, clinical staff, and administration.
  • Working with several outside organizations to coordinate services with vendor partners, providing real-time support during clinics and between sessions to enhance patient care.

Our team is dedicated, supportive, kind and works together to solve problems. Spanish bilingual individual preferred but not required.

Job Requirements

Required Skills:

  • Proficient nursing skills applicable to this position.
  • Proficient in typing.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Able to work successfully with a diverse group of faculty, other staff, and patients.
  • Able to follow directions and work as part of a team.
  • Able to follow patient safety and confidentiality (HIPAA) guidelines.

Required Education:

  • HS/GED; graduate of an approved Practical Nurse training program; or a recent graduate or a student nurse who will be graduating within 4-6 weeks.

Required Licensure:

  • Must have a valid Licensed Practical Nurse license issued by the State of Oklahoma; or in the case of a recent or upcoming graduate, be eligible to obtain a license within 30 days of job interview.

Physical Requirements:

  • Outpatient medical environment and exposure dependent upon assignment. The essential functions of this position will involve mobility (walking; being able to stand for long periods of time during patient exams/procedures, etc.). Dependent upon assignment, must be able to lift up to 50 lbs in the function of patient positioning and assistance.
