Job summary

Stony Brook Administrative Services is seeking a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to support a private office setting with specialized nursing skills. The LPN will work under supervision and collaborate with physicians to meet established clinical guidelines and office policies.

Responsibilities include rooming patients, taking vital signs, documenting visits, administering vaccines and medications, and maintaining accurate EMR records.

Qualifications

  • Current New York State LPN License.
  • CPR/AED Certified.
  • Working knowledge of Electronic Medical Records.
  • Excellent communication, decision making, leadership and problem solving skills.

  • Places patients in the exam room and documents for physician the reason for visit.
  • Measures patients height, weight, blood pressure, pulse and temperature.
  • Gather/enter/update patient information in the EMR.
  • Assist physician with special procedures and examinations.
  • Prepare and administer vaccines and medications, allergy injections, allergy skin testing.
  • Obtain results from outside labs, radiology and other doctor’s offices.
  • Provide patient education for treatments, medications, diets and physician instructions.
  • Stock rooms with medical supplies and medications. Inventory and order supplies.
  • Call patients when ordered by the physician.
  • Observe patient confidentiality in accordance with HIPPA.
  • Complete other tasks as directed by physician.

Description

We are looking for a LPN to work in a private office setting which requires specialized knowledge, clinical judgment and nursing skills. The LPN is part of a team using patient care skills to meet established practice guidelines, office policies and regulatory standards, under supervision of the physician assistant, nurse practitioner or physician.

Qualifications:

Physical Demands

May spend a great deal of their professional day walking, standing, moving and manipulating equipment, as well as lifting and moving objects, equipment and supplies. Ability to lift 20 pounds. Moving, lifting or transferring of patients or objects may involve lifting of up to 50 pounds, as well as assist with weights of more than one-hundred (100) pounds. Requires the ability to stand for extended periods of time, bend or twist their body, as well as visual acuity.
