Job summary

Hutchinson Regional Healthcare System Horizons - Reno County is seeking a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) for full-time, on-site patient care under supervision of licensed nursing staff. The role covers diverse patient care activities and supports clinical teams.

The position emphasizes accurate documentation, medication administration, patient and family education, and adherence to privacy regulations. Eligible candidates will have LPN credential, BLS/CPR, and driving requirements as applicable.

Qualifications

• Graduate of accredited LPN program.
• Current BLS/CPR before patient care.
• Licensed Practical Nurse credentialed from Kansas Board of Nursing or a compact state.
• Kansas Driver’s License (if driving is required).
• Auto Insurance equal to Kansas requirements (if driving).
• Basic computer skills.
• Multi-tasking and prioritization skills.
• Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively.
• Ability to apply the principles of patient care.

Responsibilities

• Perform acts within scope of practice as defined by the licensing board.
• Provide care per unit/department competencies, policies, and procedures.
• Evaluate patient needs and develop/implement/review/maintain a comprehensive care plan.
• Evaluate and provide care for patients from newborn to geriatric.
• Administer medications, manage orders, prior authorizations, and timely delivery.
• Educate patients/families on care, disease process, symptoms, and signs of death.
• Complete timely and accurate documentation per policy.
• Communicate pertinent patient information to medical staff when warranted.
• Act in line with mission, vision, and values.
• Maintain PHI privacy and security Regulations.

Essential Responsibilities

• Perform acts that are within the scope of practice as defined by the applicable licensing board.
• Demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care to patients as described in unit/department-based competencies, policies, and procedures.
• Accurately evaluate patient needs and develop/implement/review/maintain a comprehensive care plan.
• Evaluate and provide care as directed to achieve desired patient outcomes for patients newborn thru geriatric.
• Provide for accurate administration and evaluation of medication, management of medication orders, medication prior authorizations, and delivery of medication to patients in a timely manner.
• Educate the patient/family on physical, emotional and psychosocial aspects of care, disease process, symptom and pain management, and signs and symptoms of death (when appropriate).
• Complete timely and accurate documentation as per Health System/affiliate policy.
• Communicate pertinent patient information to medical and/or supervisory staff when warranted.
• Act in accordance with the established mission, vision, and values.
• Abide by the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability privacy and security regulations regarding all aspects of Protected Health Information (PHI).
• Maintain effective communication and professional working relationships with patients/clients and their representatives, team members, contractors, physicians, peers, outside agencies, and the public.

Minimum Qualifications

Required Education and Experience

• Graduate of accredited LPN program.

Required License/Certifications/Registrations

• Current BLS/CPR card prior to participating in patient care activities.
• Licensed Practical Nurse credentialed from the Kansas Board of Nursing or a compact state.
• Kansas Driver’s License (if position requires driving)
• Auto Insurance equal to or greater than the Kansas Insurance requirements (if position requires driving)
