Job summary

Arizona Department of Veterans' Services seeks compassionate Licensed Practical Nurses to provide geriatric care at the Arizona State Veterans' Home in Tucson. This day shift position involves 12-hour rotations (6:00 a.m.–6:30 p.m.) and direct resident care under physician orders.

You will administer medications, monitor responses, participate in interdisciplinary team meetings, supervise staff, assist with ADLs, and contribute to quality improvement. This role offers benefits and a pension.

Qualifications

• Current or temporary license to practice as a Licensed Practical Nurse in the State of Arizona
• Current Negative TB skin test within the last twelve months or a physician/NP/PA statement indicating freedom from Tuberculosis if previously positive
• Ability to obtain and retain a fingerprint clearance card
• Current CPR card obtained by physical assessment

Responsibilities

• Administer medications and perform treatments on an assigned unit as ordered by the physician and within license scope
• Observe and report the effectiveness of medications and treatments
• Ensure an adequate amount of supplies and medication are available
• Receive and deliver information regarding residents’ medical, social, and functional needs
• Participate in shift reports and communicate with residents, families and staff
• Supervise subordinate staff and assist with ADLs and resident care as needed
• Attend staff meetings and participate in training and quality programs
• Collect specimens or respond to emergencies as required
• Train new employees and support ongoing professional development
