Job summary

Iberia Medical Center in New Iberia, LA, seeks a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to support the Wound Care Center under the direction of an RN or provider. You will provide wound-related patient care per BLS, follow hospital protocols, and assist in vein clinic tasks after specialized training.

Requirements include a state-licensed LPN/LVN, a GED or HS diploma, and at least two years of LPN/LVN experience (one year in SNF/LTACH preferred).

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED
• Graduate from an accredited practical nursing program/state approved educational program
• Current LPN or LVN license in state of practice
• Two+ years experience as LPN/LVN, including 1+ year in SNF/LTACH setting
• Wound care experience preferred

Responsibilities

• Under RN/Provider direction, provides wound-related patient care per BLS and hospital protocols
• Assist in vein clinic after Healogics Vein Clinic training
• May assist with intake and discharge
• May provide case management under RN direction
• Gathers patient information and necessary equipment
• Reports quality of care issues to Clinical Nurse Manager
• Communicates with team on therapeutic interventions
• Performs hyperbaric therapy related duties after training
• May act as Documentation Assistant (scribe) as per policy

Underthe direction of a Registered Nurse (RN) or Provider, the Wound Care Center LicensedPractical Nurse (LPN) provides wound-related and other basic nursing care tothe center patients according to all the WCC and hospital policies andprocedures, care and safety protocols, and Clinical Services PracticeGuidelines.

Essential Functions/Responsibilities:

Under the direction of the RN/Provider, provides wound-related patientcare according to Basic Life Support (BLS) and approved and hospital protocols,Policies & Procedures; Assistin vein clinic as assigned after Healogics Vein Clinic training completed; May assist with intake and discharge; May providecase management under the direction of the RN; Gathers patient information; Gathersnecessary equipment and supplies for the RN or provider; Reports quality ofcare issues to Clinical Nurse Manager; Communicates as needed with all teammembers regarding therapeutic interventions, to ensure quality of care; Performshyperbaric oxygen therapy related duties, as needed, after completing therequired Healogics hyperbaric training; May function as Documentation Assistant (scribe) in accordance with Healogics policy Performs other duties as delegated.

RequiredEducation, Experience and Credentials:

High School Diploma or General Education Development(GED); Graduate from an accredited practical nursing program/state approved educationalprogram; Current Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) or Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) license in the state of practice -to maintain throughout the duration of employment in the position; Two(2) or more years experience as LPN/LVN, to include one (1) or more years in SNFor LTACH setting; Wound care experience preferred.

Required Knowledge,Skills and Abilities:

Demonstrated competency in BLS(Basic Life Support); Demonstrated organization, prioritization andtime-management skills; Basic knowledge of regulatory/accrediting requirementsfor healthcare organizations; Strong interpersonal, listening, as well as oral andwritten communication skills; Customer service skills and follow-up skills; Abilityto multi-task and to work in a fast-paced environment; Ability to work withothers and in a team environment; Problem solving skills.
