Job summary

Johnston-Willis Hospital, part of the HCA Healthcare family, is seeking a Progressive Care RN IMCU PRN to provide high-quality pre- and post-operative nursing care. The role includes patient advocacy and collaboration with medical providers to ensure an exceptional patient experience.

Responsibilities include admissions assessments, documentation, medication administration, and ongoing monitoring of cardiac and medical-surgical patients. Virginia-licensed RNs with BLS are encouraged to apply.

Qualifications

• RN licensure required in Virginia or compact license.
• BLS/Basic Life Support certification required.
• 1 year of acute care nursing experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assess patient condition at admission and each shift.
• Document nursing care in the medical record promptly.
• Administer medications and monitor responses.
• Collaborate with physicians for pre- and post-operative care.
• Maintain knowledge of cardiac and med-surgical care procedures.

Job Summary and Qualifications

The Progressive Care Registered Nurse coordinates and delivers high quality, patient-centered care. In collaboration with medical providers, the RN provides pre-operative and post-operative nursing care. The RN serves as an advocate for patients to support an unparalleled patient experience.

What you will do in this role:

• Assess patient condition during admission and during each shift, identifying and reporting any changes in patient status.
• Perform procedures or other functions as ordered by the medical provider.
• Document the administration of care in the patient medical record in a timely and thorough manner.
• Perform the administration of prescribed medications and monitors response.
• Maintain a knowledge of medications, procedures, and equipment used in the care of cardiac and medical-surgical patients.

What qualifications you will need:

• Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing (BSN preferred).
• Current Registered Nurse License in Virginia or Current Multistate Compact License.
• 1 year of nursing experience in an acute care hospital setting.
• Current American Red Cross or American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS or BCLS) Certification.
