Responsibilities & Requirements

Under the direction of the provider and/or practice manager, assists with patient care duties, provides administrative support, and supervision throughout the practice. This position assists the provider in examination and treatment of patients, performs delegated duties under the provider's direction, interviews patients, measures vital signs, and records information in patients' charts. Prepares treatment rooms for patient examinations. The role is cross-trained to perform duties that enhance efficiency and continuity of patient care.

  • Patient care duties include: preparing patients and exam rooms, taking medical history and vitals, scheduling appointments (e.g., lab, x-ray), explaining processes, assisting with special procedures (including minor surgery), removing sutures, cleaning wounds, applying dressings, notifying patients of lab results, administering shots and immunizations, and ongoing patient observation before, during, and after treatment.
  • Authorize and dispense medications as prescribed by the provider.
  • Ensure smooth patient schedule progression, working with the practice team to maintain patient flow.
  • Follow HIPAA guidelines for all patients and family members.
  • Participate in regulatory compliance and quality initiatives while maintaining fiscal responsibility.
  • Serve as a resource on patient care and clinical policies, acting as a liaison between patients, the practice, hospital, and community resources.
  • Manage schedules, time, and attendance; provide daily coaching and support; collaborate with the practice manager; assist with disciplinary actions.

Provide input on performance evaluations.

Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Graduate of an accredited LPN program (or equivalent) with a current Ohio license.
  • At least 1 year of clinical experience in a medical/physician office setting.
  • Current Ohio LPN license.
  • Basic Life Support certification required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous supervisory experience strongly preferred.
  • Experience in physician practice and electronic medical records preferred.
  • Working knowledge of OSHA guidelines and HIPAA regulations preferred.
