Job summary

You will assess patient conditions, coordinate staffing needs, ensure patient safety, supervise and evaluate staff performance, and communicate with the Nurse Executive and Administrator regarding issues with potential impact. Strong communication is essential.

Responsibilities

• Promotes and maintains quality patient care through effective management of nursing activities.
• Visits patient care units to ascertain condition of patients, evaluate staffing needs and provide support to caregivers.
• Assesses and reassesses pain; utilizes pain management techniques and educates patient and family.
• Performs all aspects of patient care in a safe environment to reduce medical errors.
• Coordinates services rendered by and to all departments during shifts; informs leadership of issues with impact.
• Keeps Nurse Executive/Administrator informed of circumstances with potential impact and follows hospital procedures.
• Assists in planning and providing inservice education within the hospital; participates in patient care meetings.
• Evaluates and documents staff performance and communicates with the Patient Care Manager.
