Job summary

Raleigh General Hospital in Beckley, WV is hiring an LPN for the Cardiac and Vascular Center. In this full-time, day-shift role, you will work under an RN to assist with patient assessments, wound care, and routine care tasks while documenting care provided.

You will participate in plan of care development, administer medications as directed, and coordinate appointments and insurance authorizations. WV LPN license and BCLS are required.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an approved practical nursing program.
• Current WV LPN license in good standing.
• BCLS certification within 30 days of hire.
• Knowledge of ICD-9, ICD-10, CPT codes and insurance basics.

Responsibilities

• Under RN direction, collect data for patient assessment.
• Perform plan of care interventions including wound care.
• May administer medications as directed.
• Document patient care provided.
• Assist RN with plan of care development.
• Assist patients with activities of daily living.
• Monitor and communicate patient status to RN/physician.

How you'll contribute

• Under the direction of an RN, contributes to the assessment of patients by collecting data for analysis by an RN.
• Performs plan of care interventions, including specimen collection and wound care.
• May administer medication.
• Documents patient care given.
• Assists RN with development of plan of care.
• Assists patients with performing activities of daily living, including personal hygiene, elimination, nutrition, and ambulation.
• Monitors, documents, and communicates patient's status and reactions to interventions with RN, physician, patient, and families.
• Works as an advocate for the physical and emotional well-being of the patient.
• Schedules, appointments and procedures as ordered by the provider.
• Obtains insurance re-authorizations as requested for testing and scheduled procedures.

What we're looking for

• Education: Graduate of an approved practical nursing program
• License: Current LPN/PN to practice in the Commonwealth of WV and be in good standing with the Board of health Professions
• Certifications: BCLS within 30 days of hire/transfer
• Minimum Work Experience:
• Knowledge of ICD-9, ICD-10, CPT codes, insurance benefits and healthcare backgrounds Required
